The phytochemical which is known as sulforaphane is particularly involved in killing cancer cells. It also activates genes that are responsible for the prevention of tumour cell development. Several studies showed that sulforaphane; reduces the number of breast cancer cells by 75%, prostate cancer cell volume by 50% and lower the risk of colon cancer. New research found that the compound isothiocyanates (ITCs), blocks the activities of harmful mutated p53 genes associated with cancer cell growth. It is also recommended to steam the broccoli so that it enhances the anti-cancer properties before adding it to your balanced diet.
