#10. Genetically-modified organisms (GMOs)
GMO are foods whose genetic makeup has been altered to either produce bountifully or stay fresh for longer. While these foods may help fight hunger, they have serious side effects when consumed over a long period of time. Studies have shown that GMOs and the chemicals used to sustain them may cause rapid tumor growth. They activate cancerous cells in people who had very little chance of falling sick. It is easy to avoid GMOs, producers are required by law to state if their foods are fully organic or if the process of farming was assisted through biotechnology.
